6:30 a.m. Start moving through an awakening house, get ready for a Grinnell day.
7:15 a.m. Walk May the Pug, marvel at how the world is FANTASTIC for her every single day.
7:45 a.m. Wish my kids a great day and get ready for meetings.
8:00 a.m. Start meetings which, in the pandemic, are screen events throughout the day, and for which I provide examples in the times below.
9:00 a.m. One of several pandemic planning meetings, debriefs and updates.
10:00 a.m. Learn about an initiative, a creative idea to move Grinnell forward.
11:00 a.m. Attend the faculty meeting or a staff fireside chat.
12:00 p.m. If it’s Wednesday, get to know students over the lunch hour.
1:00 p.m. Connect with alumni of the College from all over the world.
2:00 p.m. Have a one-on-one meeting with a senior staff leader of a division of the College.
3:00 p.m. Meet with members of the Board of Trustees in groups or committees.
4:00 p.m. Attend one of several College committee meetings (there are several!).
5:00 p.m. Work with campus partners on a special project (there are many!).
6:00 p.m. Do a first sweep of e-mail for the day, read higher ed articles and news.
7:00 p.m. Connect with my family, cook cacio e pepe, catch up on the world.
8:00 p.m. Still connecting with family, now eating dinner, still catching up on the world.
9:00 p.m. Talk to my mother, who is on her own in another state during the pandemic.
10:00 p.m. Work through e-mail, start to read ahead for the next day.
11:00 p.m. Be incredibly grateful for Grinnell College and all that Grinnellians make possible.
