6:56 a.m. – Wake up to the “Old Phone” sound of my iPhone. It’s a “classic” alarm sound. Snooze it.
7:04 a.m. – Finally open my eyes to “Illuminate.” This sound isn’t a classic, but it’s a goodie. Contemplate when to get up.
7:05 a.m. – My previously snoozed alarm goes off. Welp, guess it’s time to get up.
7:50 a.m. – Send Hanh Pham ’17 a good morning Snapchat complaining about my untamed hair. I’ll get it cut at HQ soon.
7:57 a.m. – Go to D-Hall and say hi to Marie. I give her trouble as usual. Eggs to Order only has two people in line. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaas.
8:30 a.m. – Animal Behavior with Professor [Jackie] Brown, [Biology]. We’re learning about how animals communicate via literary review discussions. I’m talking about polar bears today.
9:07 a.m. – Short break in class. I step outside for what I think is a warm temperature. It’s 37 degrees. I step back inside.
9:56 a.m. – Applied Statistics with Professor Fellers, [Mathematics]. Emma Soberano ’17 and I talk about what to do next with our research before class starts.
11:05 a.m. – We do an in-class activity based off of Jimmy Fallon’s Egg Roulette. I beat the Fallon-meister seven to three.
12:05 p.m. – I meet up with Head Honcho (John Hammond, ITS), Lithium (Richard Li ’17) and The Fish (Henry Fisher ’18). We talk about ITS goodies.
12:43 p.m. – Drop my stuff off with Pinn (Peiyun Zhang ’17) in one of the Kistle rooms. He always comes in clutch. Proceed to luncheon hour.
1:15 p.m. – Meet up with Professor [Shonda] Kuiper, [Mathematics]. Getting my life together and declaring my Statistics concentration.
1:37 p.m. – Forgot to get one more signature. Beg for Professor Kuiper to give me one final signature. She takes pity and get all my forms completed.
2:59 p.m. – I’m the College’s first Statistics concentrator. Gotta set my sights on something higher now: an Emmy.
3:25 p.m. – I chat it up with Carolyn Bosse and Professor [Vida] Praitis, [Biology]. We talk antibodies and fluorophores. Gotta make sure my research with Professor [Andrea] Tracy, [Psychology] goes according to plan.
4:25 p.m. – Run to shower and get dressed for a photo shoot with Takahiro Omura ’17. Was supposed to meet up with Gabby (Gabrielle Mercado ’16) and Tay (Taylor Watts ’16), but I’m slow and they got bigger fish to fry.
5:04 p.m. – Dinnertime. They got Pork a la Real Eggs. That was pretty much the only food I ate.
5:54 p.m. – Meet up with Pinn and Ibuki Ogasawara ’17 and eat some more. We’re looking at data for a MAP. Big data.
7:05 p.m. – Homework or reminisce about my childhood? Reminisce about my childhood. Watch Yu Yu Hakusho.
8:00 p.m. – Queue up for League of Legends (LoL). Grinnell College eSports should recruit me. I’m like the Stephen Curry of the game.
10:31 p.m. – Meet up with my friends at Lazier. Turn up (the heat—it’s so cold).
11:30 p.m. – Watch another episode. Proceed to sleep early.
