7:00 a.m. – Force my ass out of bed with nothing but the cold egg rolls I stole from D-Hall as motivation. I set four alarms every day, none of which are effective.
8:55 a.m. – I was late for my first day of Spanish so I have now perfected getting across Mac Field in under a minute. Also, can we address the fact that Mac Field is always, always wet? It has to be some sort of scientific phenomenon. Why?
9:00 a.m. – Spanish class with Senora Benoist, who I adore and is one of the only people on campus who speaks French without an accent. Since French is my native language, she’s truly a breath of fresh air. But damn, Spanish 217.
10:00 a.m. – Back in bed for an indefinite amount of time. I obsessively re-watch “Friends” and “How I Met Your Mother” so the PPF graphs for econ become interesting, but…
11:00 a.m. – Parents sometimes call at this time. They just moved back to France so the time change is difficult to work around.
11:30 a.m. – The consumption of obscene amounts of grease, either tasteless or overly seasoned “vegetables,” and terrible excuses for Asian food. Asian food just does not have potatoes in it.
12:30 p.m. – Either at Burling or Kistle watching Buzzfeed videos (watch the Try Guys Trying to Survive, it’s so good). But then the weight of the student debt I’m accumulating hits me and the sadness ensues.
2:00 p.m. – Econ with Professor Lee who is the nerdiest white boy out there (in the best way). He has already mentioned Ren Faire more than once. A testament to how cool he is.
3:00 p.m. – This is when I should be going to the Bear. It would be dishonest to say I make it there every day but some effort is made.
5:00 p.m. – Return to the D-Hall. Steal 10 lime spritzer bars and put a couple bananas down my pants.
6:00 p.m. – Go back to Norris second to see the fam. I’m lucky to have such an amazing floor and incredible friends so early in the game. Thanks East Beast, Norris Hoes, the Pussy Krew and Mom Cave.
7:00 p.m. – The three hours of Spanish start right about now. College really hits us first-years with a wrecking ball of reality. Or just shit.
12:00 a.m. – By this time, I’m stumbling back to Norris. This campus is not big, but there are no lights and a lot of potential serial killers.
1:30 a.m. – Say goodnight to my beautiful roommate, Amelia [Geser ’19]. Sweet dreams.
