6:00 a.m.—Alarm went off. Hit snooze twice.

6:18 a.m.—Got out of bed.

7:02 a.m.—Left Grinnell House. Got into my loaner Prius. I’ve never driven a Prius before. It was amazing. All you have to do is press a button.

7:05 a.m.—Met Opeyemi Awe ’15 at Saints Rest. All they had were Banana Pecan muffins, but ate one anyway because I was starving.

8:06 a.m.—Left Saints Rest. Ran into Hal Fuson ’67, retired S&B editor.

8:08 a.m.—Drove Prius over to the Old Glove Factory. Met with Shane Jacobson (Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations) to prepare for Trustee & Trustee Organizations meeting on Friday.

10:03 a.m.—Left Old Glove Factory. Drove MY Prius to JRC.

10:10 a.m.—Met Shameka Davis ’18—my brother (Earlham College ’87) met her in Chicago, texted me the MINUTE he found out she was going to Grinnell and told us BOTH we HAD to meet! So now we have met! Shoutout to Shameka! 🙂

10:45 a.m.—Drove Prius to Nollen House and met with [Secretary of the College] Susan Schoen & [Vice President for Strategic Planning and Title IX Coordinator] Angela Voos. Did board stuff. (NOT bored stuff.)

11:54 a.m.—Drove back to JRC in MY Prius.

12:18 p.m.—Lunch with three new trustees and Board officers followed by campus tour. #newtrusteeorientation #tourguideRoniFinkelstein’15

2:35 p.m.—More new trustee orientation. [President] Raynard [Kington]. Board Officers. Committee Chairs. What does it mean to be a trustee? Examined the existential questions of trustee responsibilities. It was awesome. But then I was tired.

4:50 p.m.—Left MY Prius in the parking lot and walked to Grinnell House.

5:05 p.m.—Rest time. #GrinWell.

6:15 p.m.—Reception with Trustees & Grinnell Prize Winners & others community members. Ran into Rabbi Rob. #shanatova

6:35 p.m.—Dinner with Student Success Task Force. “Pork Three Ways.” Welcome back to Iowa. Finally met [Dean of Students] Andrea Conner.

8:16 p.m.—Career Session with students. Best part of Trustee weekend.

9:35 p.m.—Shaquall Brown ’15 waited SO patiently to talk to me.

10:02 p.m.—Back to Grinnell House. Wine time with Trustees.

11:45 p.m.—BED! Stayed up too late. Again. It’s like college all over again.

12:08 a.m.—Last game of Two Dots. Can’t wait for Board meeting to start at 8 a.m.!
