Student conduct stats released

By Solomon Miller

Last fall, the numbers of major student conduct violations and alcohol-related hospitalizations were down, but more students were charged with minor drug offenses, according to the Student Affairs biannual Student Conduct report.

The report covers thefts on campus, hospitalizations due to alcohol and anonymous summaries of each case brought before Judicial Council and the College Hearing Board. Student Affairs has published the report yearly since 2008-09 in an effort to increase awareness of the disciplinary process on campus.

One change in last semester’s data was an increase in the number of drug-related offenses, especially those involving marijuana. However, this does not reflect a harsher stance on drug enforcement policy.

“There’s been no change of protocol,” Greene said. “It’s come to the point where it’s just so obvious that there’s no way you can just not confront it.”

The full report can be found at the bottom of Student Affairs Grinnell College.
