Last Friday night, D.C. rapper GoldLink provided a packed audience at the Harris Center with a night of eclectic hip-hop music. Although he’s a notoriously reclusive individual offstage, GoldLink delivered a glowing set. His rapid-fire delivery took the audience through a broad sampling of styles and moods, many of them featuring a high bpm that provoked attendees to dance. Much of his set consisted of tracks from his debut 2015 album, “And After That We Didn’t Talk.” While the thematic content of the album concerns the events of a difficult break up, the energy in the Harris Center never waned throughout the night. Accommodating a larger crowd than the Gardner concerts that happen throughout the year, GoldLink’s show incited feelings of celebration and mirth among the students in attendance. It felt like both a much-deserved reward for what has been a trying semester for many and a necessary space to refuel for the final push through the end of the year.
