The Science Library isn’t just for the science majors. Even though the bookshelves are dominated by dense science texts and journals, Kistle is open to anyone, regardless of major. Kistle is one of the most popular study spots on campus, thanks to its great location and study spaces. There are a wealth of available areas, from small study rooms to spacious individual nooks, but they tend to fill up quickly, especially on Sundays and midsems/finals weeks. The nooks on the second floor provide an entertaining view of everything happening on 8th Street, as well as an expansive space to spread out your work, complete with outlets. Though these second floor nooks are inaccessible, the first floor equivalents are also wonderful, offering the benefits of deskspace and power outlets without needing to ascend the stairs.
Though Kistle is lacking in nap-friendly furniture, its convenient location a jump away from the JRC means the rejuvenating powers of Laurel Leaf Lounge, the Spencer Grill and the D-Hall are a simple skip across the street. Between coffee breaks at the Grill, Kistle offers one of the best places to get work done. There are numerous computers and one of the fastest printers on campus available for your use. Another key contributor to productivity is the wealth of natural light made possible by the entire wall of windows on the north side of Noyce. Studying never felt so well-lit.
