The men’s basketball team’s assistant head coach Dave Arseneault Jr. ’09 was hired by the Sacramento Kings to become the head coach of their NBA Development League affiliate, the Reno Bighorns, according to Yahoo Sports.
Arseneault is expected to implement The System, a strategy formulated for the players to shoot quick three-pointers, apply constant full-court pressure and frequently substitute players, into the Bighorns play. Arsenault enjoyed much success with it, as most notably Jack Taylor ’15 scored 138 points against Faith Baptist Bible on Nov. 20, 2012 to establish the NCAA record for most points in a single game.
A three-time finalist for the Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award, Arseneault holds the school’s record for most assists in a career with 854, ahead by more than 340 to the runner-up.
