For Grinnell students staying in town on Oct. 27 and 28, there will be an opportunity to get thoroughly frightened just in time for Halloween. Iowa Valley Community College, Grinnell (IVG) will host a haunted house, dubbed “Haunted Halls of Horror” at its campus, located at 123 Sixth Ave. West, Grinnell. From 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. For $5, anyone can experience “ghosts, zombies and gore galore,” according to the IVG website. The event will also feature a kids’ section, which the website says includes “pumpkin painting or cookie decorating and face painting, beanbag toss, ring toss, and other games.”
The IVG website quotes the community college’s event coordinator, Jodi Blackford, who said, “We encourage everyone to wear a costume, but that’s not required. It will be a fun and unique opportunity to celebrate Halloween a little bit early with friends and family. We hope it’s a tradition that might even become an annual event!”
