The softball team cancelled three double-headers last week due to “issues” within the team.

“The spring break non-conference softball games this past weekend were cancelled, so that the team could focus on some internal issues,” wrote Greg Wallace, the Director of Athletics and Recreation, in an email to the Scarlet and Black.

Head coach Amanda Reckamp and players were unavailable for comment.

The three double-headers cancelled were against Wartburg College at Waverly, Iowa on Thursday, March 27, AIB College of Business on Saturday, March 29 and MacMurray College on Sunday, March 30. The latter two competitions were home games.

According to Wallace, the internal issues were addressed and that the team is “moving forward with scheduled conference games this weekend.”

The Pioneers will play a double-header at home against Illinois College on Saturday. The game will start at 1 p.m. Sunday’s double-header against Buena Vista University is cancelled.

Over spring break, the softball team travelled to Tucson, Ariz., where the team lost all seven games they played.
