SGA President Colleen Osborne ’13 announced at Joint Board that the Committee on Admission and Financial Aid was preparing three solutions for Grinnell’s budget shortfall. Once presented, Osborne recommended that SGA endorse one of the three proposals to ensure that student opinion is heard in the discussion.
“We don’t have to endorse one, but we should endorse one of them,” Osborne said. “Our voice will be more important that way.”
Osborne will also be working with President Raynard Kington’s new task force on sexual assault and alcohol policies. Right now, she is the only student member of the task force, but she will be working to involve more students.
Senator Sam Pilicer ’15, Clangrala, who sits on the Dining Committee, stated that the Dining Hall’s Halal station will launch early next semester. To a round of cheers, Pilicer also announced that Nutella is now available at the Grill. At the moment, Pilicer is Clangrala’s only representative following the resignation of former S&B Editor-in-Chief, Solomon Miller ’13.
Administrative Coordinator Ron Chiu ’13 announced that a special election would be held for ClanGraLa residents early next week.
Joint Board resolved its only item of Old Business quite quickly, voting unanimously to acquire a dunk tank and give all students who attend the first few minutes of Joint Board an opportunity to give their favorite SGA personality a swim.
