Savanna Restoration Workday at CERA: Saturday, Feb 28, 9:30 p.m. – 12:30 p.m. Help restore a bur oak savanna at the Conrad Environmental Research Area (CERA). Volunteers will help pile branches and salvage firewood-sized logs from invasive trees that have been cut down around the oak trees. Transportation and work gloves will be provided. The van will leave from the parking lot behind the Chrystal Center at 9:30 a.m., if driving separately park by the Environmental Education Center. The exhibit by Tracy Hicks based around specimen jars is intended to provide a space for intellectual as well as artistic reflection on the fate of species and raises the question: what does it mean to preserve? Animated Painting: Feb 6 – April 19. This exhibit open to the public features work by 12 international contemporary artists who adapt animation concepts and technologies in making their art, combining handwork, digital technology as well as traditional art forms.
