With a 30-15 win at Joe Brooks Field at Illinois College, Grinnell’s baseball team set a new school record for runs scored in a game, topped off by a seven-run ninth inning. Grinnell gave up more runs in the March 30 game than the team had in any previous game this season. On top of the team record, Pioneer players recorded impressive numbers. Mac McCain `25, second base, had eight RBI on 4/5 batting, Connor Goodson `26, first base, hit two home runs and Ethan Crawford `25, catcher, scored five runs. Pitcher Jackson Gutta `27 started the game for the Pioneers, but it was reliever Shea Goel `28 who earned the win, striking out one batter and walking two in 4.1 innings. The Pioneers have a long home stand to wrap up the season, starting against Ripon College on April 26 and finishing with a May 3 doubleheader against Knox College.
