Jacki Bolen (R) has been elected County Supervisor in Poweshiek County. Bolen earned 51.9 percent of the vote, while the incumbent Diana Dawley (D) earned 42.5 percent and John Clayton (I) earned 5.4 percent.
“Honestly, I did not know what to expect,” Bolen said, “I was delighted with the results, I felt like it was a good campaign. I think we all remained friendly and courteous towards one another.”
Bolen is a small business owner and a former council member and mayor of Montezuma, IA.
Her main expected action steps are to promote and populate Poweshiek County, take steps to address the mental health crisis and prepare the County to maintain fiscal responsibility.
“There’s a lot of things that we need to get on board with, as far as the legislation in Des Moines, and we need to work together on this, but we need some mental health services here in Poweshiek County,” said Bolen, “Obviously, there’s a lot involved there. It’s not something that will be able to happen overnight.”
Incumbent Diana Dawley declined to comment.
