This past week, the Grinnell men’s basketball team avenged their loss to Knox a week before by winning at Darby Gymnasium 115-90. Vinny Curta ’19, the nation’s leading scorer, tallied 31 points. Curta needs to make five free throws away in order to achieve a Division III record in made free throws in a season. Curta found support from Sean Cullinane ’18 with 18 points and Ky-Sean Johnson ’19 with 13. The men sit in the middle of the conference standings at fifth.
The women’s team’s turn in the double header resulted in a 74-62 loss. Kayla Morrissey ’18 scored 26 points and pulled down nine rebounds. Tyria Heath ’21 added 10 points and five assists for the Pioneers, while Regan Kasprak ’19 added another five assists and two steals. The women are eighth in the Midwest Conference.
Both the men’s and women’s teams have their final games of the season on Saturday at Illinois College.
