In last weekend’s match against Monmouth College, the Pioneer women’s soccer team qualified for their 23rd conference tournament in the last 27 years. The team won in a 1-0 victory, capping off another solid regular season with an exciting conference tournament on the horizon this weekend.
The Pioneers scored their only goal of the game in the 34th minute, when Jordan Maddaus ’19 connected with the back of the net on an assist from Valencia Alvarez ’20 and Lauren Hurley ’18. Perhaps the most incredible statistic from the victory is the fact that goalkeeper Regan Kasprak ’19 recorded yet another shutout. Kasprak is now ninth on the all-time shutout list in school history.
Maddaus’ performance was enough to earn her the Midwest Conference’s “Soccer Offensive Performer of the Week” honor. Looking forward, the team has the Midwest Conference Tournament this weekend. They play Knox College on Friday, Nov. 3 at 11 a.m., and if they win, will play in the championship match on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 6 p.m.
