Red Light, Green Light Harris will not occur this weekend. Several issues, stemming from a lack of a host and general uncomfortableness about hosting such a blatantly sexual party, led to the cancellation.
“There was an email sent out this semester that said: Here are all of the ACE events for the semester, and here are the parties that we still need hosts for. No one responded, no one replied, and that’s part of the reason why it was cancelled,” said Aaron Levin ‘14, ACE Vice-Coordinator.
Normally, ACE would host the party, but declined to host this particular one, citing concerns from students and administrators about the oversexualization of the party.
“Natalie and I, as ACE Coordinators, did not feel like we wanted to attach our name to a party where there is so much controversy around,” Levin said.
A committee member stepped up to host, but the decision was made to cancel Red Light, Green Light Harris for this weekend, with the option to possibly have it later in the semester. Other parties still lack hosts, but ACE is prepared to host some of them if no one volunteers. “
“ACE is stepping up and hosting 80’s Harris next weekend,” Levin said.
Tomorrow, ACE is hosting a showing of “The Silence of the Lambs” instead.
