The official sample ballot for the City of Grinnell and Grinnell-Newburg school board election on Nov. 4 is in.
Grinnell City Council has five open seats this year. These include Mayor, currently held by Dan F. Agnew, one at-large seat, currently held by James White, one Ward 1 seat, currently held by Lee Staroska, one Ward 3 seat, currently held by Rachel Bly, and one Ward 4 seat, currently held by Shane Hart, who was appointed to fill a vacancy until the election.
Grinnell-Newburg Community School District has four open seats this year. These include two at-large seats, currently held by Chris Starrett and Roger Belcher, one District 1 seat, currently held by Laurel Tuggle Lacina and one District 2 seat, currently held by Tyler Harter.

Proposed public measure
One public measure is on the ballot. The proposed measure is to authorize the renewal of the local sales and services tax in the town, which will continue without repeal of the existing local sales and services tax at a rate of one percent.
Election date
The election will happen on Nov. 4. Polls open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 8:00 p.m. Grinnell is divided into 4 wards, which determine where a resident votes. Wards 1 and 2 votes at Elks Lodge, Ward 3 votes at Drake Library and Ward 4 votes at the 4H Building, County Fairgrounds.
