Chalutzim celebrates Rosh Hashanah

Photograph by Solomon Miller

Nathan Forman ’15 throws challah breadcrumbs into Lake Nyanza in Grinnell’s Miller Park in honor of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. Forman and other members of Chalutzim performed the ritual Tashlich (casting off), metaphorically casting their sins into running water after a short prayer to purify themselves in the Ten Days of Repentance stretching from the New Year to the holiday Yom Kippur.
