The Scarlet & Black has been named the News & Multimedia organization of the year at the Iowa College Media Association (ICMA) awards for the third year in a row. Writers and photographers also received 21 individual awards, the most The S&B has received in their five-year history of submitting to the ICMA.
“To be able to stand out amongst all of the excellent college student journalists in the state of Iowa is significant,” said Lyle Muller, the professional adviser for The Scarlet & Black. “Iowa has a lot of good collegiate journalism.”
Muller said that the success of The Scarlet & Black is especially noteworthy given that Grinnell does not have a journalism program.
“The students are able to do this work at a high ethical and professional level,” Muller said. “I’m very proud of the students who received awards and recognition for their hard work.”

Congratulations to a great group of college journalists!
Well-deserved. Keep up the fine work. Many Grinnell alumni regularly visit the Scarlet and Black to keep track of what’s going on at our school.
