The Grinnell College women’s soccer team defeated Mount Mercy University 2-1 in a non-conference match at Springer Field on Friday, Sept. 6, 2024. After conceding a goal in the 58th minute to go down 1-0 with just over 25 minutes left to play, Grinnell women’s soccer mounted a rapid comeback, scoring two goals in a 16-minute span. The first goal came on a penalty kick converted by Maddie Beltramo `25, giving Beltramo her first career goal. Maya Mozena `28 then provided the game-winning strike in the 81st minute on a high-arcing shot from the corner of the penalty box. The win brings Grinnell to a 2-1 record going into an away matchup against undefeated St. Mary’s University on Sunday, Sept. 8.
