The Grinnell Police and Fire departments are investigating two fires from April 26 that they have deemed “suspicious in nature,” according to a press release. The Iowa State Fire Marshall’s Office is also assisting with the investigations.

According to Police Chief Dennis Reilly, Grinnell Police and Fire responded to a fire on the exterior of a structure at 1308 6th Ave. at 12:11 a.m. on April 26. Just seven minutes later, at 12:18 a.m., Grinnell Police and Fire responded to a fire on the exterior of an apartment located at 1115 Reed St. Grinnell firefighters were able to quickly bring the two fires under control, with only moderate damage to both buildings and no injuries reported.
