Horoscope: Where are you on the Mohs hardness scale?

The Mohs hardness scale rates the scratch resistance of minerals from one to ten, one being the softest, talc, and ten being the hardest, diamond. I decided, based purely on vibes, what each sign would be.

Aries (March 21 – April 19): Tungsten

I gave Aries a 7.5 on the scale, because I think they put up a 10 out of 10 scratch resistant front, but deep down, they can be scratche d a little. They’re still tough though, tungsten is a super conductor.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20): Opal

This might be surprising. Tauruses are gentle, sure, but they’re also loyal and stubborn, so I think they’re 5.5. Sensitive to a point, but tough and strong for the ones they love.

Gemini (May 21 – June 21): Fluorite

Fluorite is a 4 on the hardness scale. Tender, but sometimes tough and gritty when it comes down to it. Soft, but definitely not the softest.

Cancer (June 22 – July 22): Talc

There was no other option for one of the softest minerals on th e scale. Talc is a 1. I’m not saying Cancers aren’t strong in their own right, I think this sensitivity can be a strength in a lot of situations.

Leo (July 23 – August 22): Ordinary Steel

This is at a 4.5 on the hardness scale, because Leos are bold and brash, but not necessarily super scratch resistant. I think under that flamboyant performance is a sensitive spirit just waiting to be released.

Virgo (August 23 – September 22): Adamite

Virgos are strong and brave, efficient and organized, but there’s a deep sensitivity behind all that. Maybe all their order is to protec t their truly scratchable self. They can be scratched for sure, a 3.5 on the scale, but do it gently.

Libra (September 23 – October 23): Calcite

This is a kind but sensitive sign, so Libras, I put us at a 3 on the hardness scale. I think Libras tend to care deeply about what other people think of them, which lends itself to getting scratched easily.

Scorpio (October 24 – November 21): Diamond

THE hardest element on the scale, Scorpios can only be scratche d by other Scorpios. I think they tend to be unapologetic, which is why they’re not scratched so easily, but that’s not to say they don’ t have their moments of vulnerability. Maybe they can choose to get scratched sometimes.

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21): Feldspar

Sagittariuses are fun loving and adventurous, which lends itself to having tough skin. Sometimes when you follow your impulses, you end up getting scratched! And you have to be ok with that as a Sagittarius, so they’re a 6 on the hardness scale.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19): Porcelain

I give Capricorns a 7, not so easily scratched, but they’re sti ll a delicate material like porcelain. Not so scratchable, but pretty breakable. And sometimes, you can stretch it thin enough that it’s translucent aft er firing. Check in on your Capricorns.

Aquarius (January 20 – February 18): Zinc

Aquarians are a 2.5 – and I think they hate to hear that. I’m s orry Aquarius, don’t deny your sensitive side! All that talk hides real feelings sometimes, not just someone playing devil’s advocate. Let yourself be scratched once in a while, it’ll do you some good.

Pisces (February 19 – March 20): Lead

Pisces don’t really care what other people think, so they’re not quite a 1 , but they’re definitely sensitive to pretty much anything else in life, so a 1.5. Quite scratchable, but they take it in stride.
