Call me a horse girl, but I love horses. They’re smart, cute, and a little scary, all things I aspire to be as well. This week, I assigned everyone a famous horse that best suited their sign. Enough horsing around! Here they are:
Aries (March 21 – April 19): Seabiscuit
This is my personal favorite horse. He and Red Pollard won hearts and changed minds throughout their careers, and matched the passion and energy of courageous Aries.
Taurus (April 20 – May 20): Black Beauty
An inspirational horse. Black Beauty faced hardships but learned a lot and always kept a good attitude. He’s smart, determined, gentle, and reminds us of the importance of animal rights — all things I associate with Tauruses.
Gemini (May 21 – June 21): Centaur
Both man and horse, this kind of represents the two sides of Gemini. I don’t have a specific centaur here, because I think their mixture of majesty and wildness as a whole represents Geminis. You can identify with your favorite centaur if you want to
Cancer (June 22 – July 22): The horse from “The Horse Whisperer”
First of all, R.I.P. Robert Redford. Second of all, this horse is emotional and intelligent and needs tenderness, like many Cancers do. This movie is also an instant classic, just like a Cancer.
Leo (July 23 – August 22): Lil Sebastian
Bye bye, Lil Sebastian. An iconic, lovable mini horse from the iconic and lovable show “Parks and Recreation.” Frankly, Lil Sebastian’s charm and grace is beyond words. Leos should be honored.
Virgo (August 23 – September 22): Silver Stallion
Best song ever, specifically the Cat Power version. And it really says Virgo to me, not sure why. Quiet and powerful.
Libra (September 23 – October 23): Horse named Friday
We all know the classic joke. The cowboy rode into town on a Friday, stayed two days, and left on Friday. Libra’s are fun loving, but also complicated, like this riddle.
Scorpio (October 24 – November 21): One of the horses from the song “Wild Horses”
Scorpios are passionate and intense, like the horses in this song and like the song itself. You should try singing this song to your lover, or at least neighing along.
Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21): Bucephalus
Bucephalus was Alexander the Great’s famously untamable horse, and according to Wikipedia, “one of the most famous horses of classical antiquity.” Who are the others? Famous to who? Anyway, Bucephalus is fierce and adventurous, but also loyal, like a Sagittarius.
Capricorn (December 22 – January 19): The horse with no name
Another great song. Not sure why there are so many horses in songs. This horse represents the stoic determination of Capricorns, and I think there’s also something Capricorn-esque about the horse’s silent companionship. He could’ve named the horse at any time in that desert though.
Aquarius (January 20 – February 18): Bojack Horseman
Someone had to be Bojack Horseman, and I’m sorry, it just really fit Aquarius. I don’t think most Aquarians are quite as deeply flawed as this guy, but they have some similar tendencies. Thoughtfulness, tended towards depression, etc. Bojack isn’t all bad. He learns and grows once in a while.
Pisces (February 19 – March 20): Hobby horse
This is a good thing. Pisces are out doing what they want to do, having fun, being creative, and maybe getting a good workout along the way. Keep being you.
